Rogue Wiki
Everything about playing Rogue: the classes, the systems that run underneath them, and the world they happen in.
Rogue is a MUD - a text world you play by typing. There are no graphics to read for you, which means everything the game knows, it will tell you in words, and everything you want to do, you ask for in words. This wiki is the reference for all of it.
It is generated from the game's own source rather than written from memory, so when a page quotes a number, that number is the one the server is actually using. If the game changes, the page is rebuilt.
If you are new#
Start with Getting Started, which takes you from opening the client to standing in the world with a character you chose on purpose. First Steps covers the Training Grounds, where dying does not cost you anything, and where most players learn to fight.
You do not need to read the rest of this wiki to play. Rogue tells you what
you need as you go, and the in-game help command reaches most of it. The
pages here are for when you want to know exactly how something works, or
want to plan rather than discover.
If you already play#
The Systems section is the detailed half of the wiki. It documents the real formulas: how armour turns into damage reduction, how gear quality and condition multiply into a final stat, what a rune of a given form is worth, how faction standing decays. If you are optimising a character or arguing about numbers, that is where the answers are.
What this wiki will not tell you#
Quest solutions. Quests explains how the quest system works - finding them, tracking them, what the rewards mean - but not the answers to individual quests. Working those out is the game, and a wiki that hands them over takes something away from a world built to be explored.
Boss tactics and area secrets are treated the same way. Areas are listed with their flavour and their rough level range, so you can find somewhere that suits your level, and nothing more.
